Click on photo to continue to the broad saddle of Echo Creek.
Looking southward at the north face of 11,957' Twin Peaks. Its southwest
face towers over Lake Granby. Notice the easy terrain we are crossing.
We had originally planned to go only as far as Mount Bryant. However,
the skyline walk proved to be easier than expected with few rocks and
almost no fallen trees to cross. We did some rapid calculations and decided
we would press on to Paradise Park. It would be Will's first visit to its
venerable wilderness. Scott led the way and figured that we could reach
the East Inlet Trail and bridge at the foot of Mount Baldy just before sunset.
We knew that there could be some formidable terrain ahead, certainly in
Paradise Park where there is much downed timber and also as we cross
over the top of Echo Creek and its rich wilderness. Snow would be expected,
but we didn't know how much for sure.
