Train trellis for the historic Corona Pass, Rollins Pass, Moffat Road ...
The rails have been removed and trains now pass completely under the
Continental Divide through the very long Moffat Tunnel. You can't drive
over the trellis, but most of the 14 mile route to the top is a gently rising
road that starts by the Winter Park Ski Area, on the east side of Highway 40,
near the train tunnel. From the top, on a clear day, you can hike from Corona Pass
to the verdant "Devil's Thumb Pass" via an almost level trail poised high upon the
Continental Divide. You can NOT continue driving over Corona Pass to the east
side of the Divide because the Needle's Eye Tunnel "restoration" has failed.
