This is one of the steepest cliffs in
Rocky Mountain National Park. It is horn right by the top of Ptarmigan Mountain.

The last part of the trail to the lake is through this primordial forest.
The lower five to six feet of this tree is gray due to being water
saturated every year by the deep snows that accumulate here.
