To the right is a photo by yours truly of the same location in July of 1995. In the sunlit water,
one can see cutthroat trout that are spawning. In the distance is a Park official who has come
to monitor the fish. Years ago, fingerlings of these fish were introduced into this lake via
helicopter. Fishing is forbidden in this section and in the nursery area shown at the bottom
of this page. Scroll down to see fish that we were able to spot from the shore. Click on a
photo to begin the 12 mile return trip to Grand Lake. After returning to Lake Nokoni, we
started down on the fine switchback trail the remote valley floor and then followed the
8 mile North Inlet Trail to Summerland Park and Grand Lake Village. It would have been
better if we had a campsite to return to with a hot meal on the stove .....
